Vasculitis:

Vasculitis is a common autoimmune condition with the inflammation of the blood vessels; including arteries, veins as well as capillaries.

What is Vasculitis?

Vasculitis is a common autoimmune condition with the inflammation of the blood vessels; including arteries, veins as well as capillaries. The inflamed blood vessel can be narrowed down obstructing the flow of blood to major organs of the body. In severe forms of Vasculitis, the blood vessel can even be weakened or stretched to the extent that it can cause aneurism.

How Prevalent Is Vasculitis?

Different forms of Vasculitis have been categorized on the basis of their location such as Cutaneous, systemic, etc. A generalized estimate of 38-40 cases per million populations annually has been suggested by many research surveys. There are more incidences of women than in men.
The prevalence of Vasculitis on the basis of location has as well been estimated, some of the forms of Vasculitis are observed to be more common in USA, accounting for about 20 cases per million populations. The survey has confirmed the total cases of Europe, England and Scandinavian countries to be not more than 30 patients per million populations annually.
Although, the numbers are relatively small as compared to heart diseases, diabetes, etc.; it has been estimated that the Vasculitis may give rise to these threats if untreated.

Factors Responsible for Vasculitis

With an extensive research so far, the exact cause of the disease has not been confirmed. However, it has possibly been known that some sort of genetic makeup can be considered as one of the many factors for its expressions. The disease is known to be an autoimmune disorder; the factors which are responsible for triggering the immune system are as follows
  • Infections such as hepatitis B & C.
  • Certain forms of leukaemia.
  • Other diseases which can affect the normal immune functioning such as lupus, arthritis, scleroderma.
  • Hyper sensitive reactions with certain drugs.

Symptoms Associated With the Crohn’s Disease

The signs and symptoms of the disease are different according to the different types of Vasculitis, organs involved and the severity of the disease. On a generalized note, symptoms develop slowly and progressively. The systemic signs of the disease are:
  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Loss of appetite
  • Fatigue
  • Paining and aching of the body
  • Night sweats
  • Rash
  • Nerve problems
  • Loss of pulse in the limb
Apart from the generalized symptoms mentioned above, some of the organ specific symptoms are as follows:
  • Skin:– If the disease is affecting the skin, some changes of the skin can be noted such as; development of red or purple spots, bumps, hives, cluster of small dots, splotches, etc. There can also be unusual itching of the skin sometimes.
  • Joints:– Immense joint pain can be observed in the joints, which may lead to the development of the arthritis.
  • Lungs:- If the lungs are being affected, shortness of breath can be experienced along with excessive coughing and bleeding.
  • GI Tract:– If the GI tract is being affected, a person may have severe mouth ulcers or stomach pain. In more serious condition the wall of the intestine can be weakened leading to its rupture and death.
  • Brains:– When the brain is affected in Vasculitis, the person may experience confusion, mental dysfunction and stroke like symptoms such as muscular weakness or paralysis.

What Goes Wrong in the Vasculitis?

Vasculitis can be categorized into an autoimmune disease that can cause the inflammation of the blood vessels. The body’s immune system attacks the inner lining of the blood vessels by mistake. Due to injury to the blood vessels may lead to the inflammation; that may involve pain, redness, warmth and swelling leading to the loss of function.
If the vessel is inflamed, it can be narrowed or closed off. This will limit the flow of blood, causing it to bulge known as aneurysm.

How Stem Cells Treatment Can Help!

Stem cells are the mother cells that are responsible for developing an entire human body from a tiny two celled embryo; due to their unlimited divisions and strong power to differentiate into all the cells of different lineage. This power of stem cells has been harnessed by the technology to isolate them outside the human body, concentrate in the clean environment and implant back.
Thus, stem cells treatment involves administration of concentrated cells in the targeted area, wherein they can colonize in the damaged area, adapt the properties of resident stem cells and initiate some of the lost functions that have been compromised by the disease or injury.
After years of research, it has been believed that it is better to alter the microenvironment with the application of stem cells instead of suppressing the immune system. Mesenchymal stem cells are known to have angiogenic, transdifferentiation and homing properties, which are useful for forming new blood vessels, differentiating into required targeted cells and creation of microenvironment for the faster secretion of immune cells.

Treatment of Vasculitis at Giostar

We have mastered the technology for isolating maximum number of viable stem cells from either the autologous sources of your own body or allogeneically with the matched donor to treat various patients with Vasculitis. We are the licensed, private organization with the excellent, well equipped state of the art facility to isolate process and enrich the viable number of stem cells, which can be re infused back into the patient’s body. Generally, these cells are administered through any one of the below mentioned methods depending upon our expert’s advice:

Local Administration

Through this mode, cell are infused directly at the targeted site of injury. Thus in case of various organs, stem cells are infused directly at the target through catheter based delivery.

Sub-Cutaneous Administration

In case of skin Vasculitis; stem cells can as well be administered in the fat layer of the skin. They can help regenerating skin cells, promote restructuring of skin tissue.

Intravenous Administration

Through this mode, cells are infused through the veins to expand blood volumes in the central nervous system, to ensure that the maximum number of cells are reaching to the targeted area.

Once infused back in the body, these cells can be repopulated at the damaged parts of the organ, through their strong paracrine effects and differentiate into lost or damaged cells to restore back the function. These cells can regulate immune system and minimize the impact of autoimmunity. One of the important properties of mesenchymal stem cells is to promote vascularisation and vessel formation, which can improve the strength of the blood vessels and also promote synthesis of new vessels.
Thus with our standardized, broad based and holistic approach, it is now possible to obtain noticeable improvements in the patients with the Vasculitis, in the symptoms as well as their functional abilities.
